Marion "Suge" Knight, the former hiphop mogul and co-founder of the label Death Row Records, was charged with homicide after killing one of the two men he run over with his pick-up truck the earlier week. Prosecutors claimed that Knight deliberately run down both men with his pick-up truck due to a fueled argument at the movie set. One of the men was killed, according to The Guardian.
James Blatt, Knight's legal counsel, explained that the hip-hop star was trying to escape an attack and accidentally hit the men. He immediately turned himself to the law enforcement. The initial bail of $2.2M was revoked when the court commissioner agreed to the authorities' notion that he is a potential flight risk and may intimidate witnesses if given bail.
Nicole Nishida, L.A. County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman explained that Knight's bail was put off due to the following reasons, three-strike candidate, flight risk possibility, possible witness intimidation, and his past criminal records. Knight run over Cle "Bone" Sloan and Terry Carter, the latter was killed, LA Times reported.
The three men reportedly were in a fumed confrontation around at 3 p.m. on Feb. 29, Thursday, at the set of "Straight Outta Compton," a biopic about the N.W.A group, disclosed Lt. John Corina of the Sheriff's Department's detectives unit.
Detectives told the bail commissioner that Knight could be facing a lifetime imprisonment due to the violent crime committed. Death Row Records mogul will face the court on Tuesday in Compton for the arraignment on four felony counts, which included Carter's murder.
