The most recent leaks on the upcoming Apple's iPhone 7 depict that the device might not be a sales hit, as it is not expected to pack exciting new features as previously expected, something that has prompted mobile analysts to describe it as evolutionary, rather than revolutionary.
A report published recently in a Japanese magazine hints that iPhone 7 will have some noticeable changes, contrary to the previously rumored specs. The magazine had published an engineering schematic of the iPhone, which revealed more of the features and changes to expect.
Firstly, the 5.5-inch iPhone will be dropping its "Plus" name to adopt a "Pro" label. This, according to the publication, is an allusion that Apple will be adopting the "Pro" moniker to its upcoming smartphone lineups.
Additionally, the purported schematics confirmed a few more iPhone 7 features including Apple's Smart Connector technology on the backside of the phone, absence of a headphone jack, and a dual-camera lens system. There is also an absence of the second speaker, which was prospected to be fitted for external stereo audio output.
According to Forbes, Apple has taken a risk by sticking with the three generation old chassis, as seen from the leaked images. The design was first introduced with the former iPhone 6 and will see the iPhone 7 embrace the same blueprint. In fact, from the leaked schematics, the next iPhone will remain 7.3mm thick, the same as iPhone 6S Plus.
The schematics are very identical to the claimed "iPhone 7" case that recently leaked online in March. Also, they are one and the same to what was rumored formerly about the upcoming device, not mentioning that the number of leaks with the same designs are lending strong support that the device might feature the mentioned specs.
However, considering that Apple just announced a 16 percent drop in iPhone sales during the last quarter, analysts are now claiming that iPhone 7, which copies some features of the iPhone 6S, is "a big gamble." Therefore, the next iPhone might not be revolutionary like the previous models.
iPhone 7 is expected to be unveiled later in September.
