Dubbed as flagship killer, OnePlus 3 is rumored to drop as early as May this year or way ahead of Google's Nexus 2016 lineup. Now leaked specs and features so far have indicated that the young Android brand is packed with super-impressive feature upgrades to defeat its Pure Android rival - deemed as the OnePlus 3's natural foe.
Here are the minimum expectations detailed to date:
Metal casing across all models
In a new report by Phone Arena, the OnePlus 3 is said to come out in multiple models but unlike the Nexus 2015 all devices will be wrapped in metal and glass. While the specifications will differ, buyers are sure to get the new OnePlus in premium build no matter the model they pick.
3 screen sizes to pick from
The OnePlus 3 release this 2016 will be distinct as the unboxing will reportedly involve three screen variants to choose from as opposed to the two-punch approach introduced by Google with the last year's Nexus lineup. Rumors said that the refresh will present screen sizes in 5-inch, 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch configurations.
But Phone Arena noted that only two OnePlus 2016 have been hinted by leaked benchmark results so far - A3000 and A3003. Both are codenamed Rain.
SD 820
Under the hood, any of the OnePlus 3 will not disappoint as the main engine will come from Qualcomm - no less than the mighty Snapdragon 820. Reports have indicated that SD 820 will be seen across the board with A3000 and A3003 confirmed to draw power from the flagship-favorite processor.
Memory chip provisions
Three OnePlus 3 flavors will also mean the same number of storage options. GizmoChina reported that the 32GB edition will come packed with 3GB of RAM while the 64GB will have 4GB RAM. The most high-end choice appears to be the 126GB build that supposedly will boast of a whopping 6GB RAM provision, which is the same amount of RAM that the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is reportedly tapped on.
Super camera combo
And the OnePlus shooting prowess is nothing to be sneered at, which the leaked details indicate will be a 16-megapixel for the main and 8-megapixel for the secondary. The system is believed to be laced with menu laced with killer camera features - larger pixels, stupid fast auto-focus and optical image stabilization among them.
Irresistible deal
But what makes the OnePlus 3 a deal that is hard to ignore is the asking price, which GizmoChina said will remain the strongest selling point of the brand. Price starts at around $350 for the basic model while the 128GB is believed to retail for no more than $390.
And the best part, Android fans need not to wait long to unpack the OnePlus 3 as release date is likely to happen as early as May 18 with the maker rumored to ditch the invitation-only selling tactic. That means all models will be widely available. Out of the box, the latest Android Marshmallow build will run the OnePlus 3 show, layered as expected by the Oxygen OS.
