"Grey's Anatomy" fans better brace themselves as a big shocker awaits in the season 12 finale. The show is notoriously known for plotting the death of a major character and orchestrating an overwhelming disaster, and it seems that this year's wrap up will be no different.
Actress Kelly McCreary, who plays Dr. Maggie Pierce, confirmed with TV Line that there is "definitely a potential disaster" in the final episode.
Jesse Williams, Dr. Jackson Avery on the show, added that this season's ending will be an even "bigger climax" than last year's, which predominantly focused on the aftermath of Dr. Derek Shepherds' (Patrick Dempsey) passing.
"The stakes are very, very high, particularly for Jackson and April. There's a lot to be gained and there's a hell of a lot to lose," Williams hinted.
Contrary to these seemingly catastrophic predictions, "Grey's Anatomy" newbie Martin Henderson begs to differ, saying that the finale will be "pretty positive" all in all. He promised that there will be a lot of humor and laughter in season 12's final run.
Meanwhile, Sara Ramirez dropped a cryptic message on Twitter that has raised suspicion about her possible exit from the show.
"That's a wrap for Doctor #CallieTorres #Season13 #GreysAnatomy," Ramirez wrote on Twitter, as quoted by US Weekly.
That's a wrap for Doctor #CallieTorres #Season13 #GreysAnatomy #ThankYou all for an enriching & unforgettable #Rollercoaster ride! ❤️
The actress and the "Grey's Anatomy" production crew did not comment on the issue.
Dr. Torres' currently storyline gives several reasons that would justify the Ramirez's departure from the ABC drama. In previous episodes, Torres expressed her desire to transfer to New York City with her girlfriend Penny (Samantha Sloyan). The situation with Torres and Dr. Arizona Robbins is also getting complicated, especially as they fight to gain custody over their daughter Sophie.
Ramirez joined the show in season 2 and was introduced as the love interest to T.R. Knight's Dr. George O'Malley. Dr. Torres has since become a favorite among fans, who are now protesting to keep the orthopedic surgeon alive on the show.
Many of the show's original cast members, which includes Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl, Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey, have left the show. Thus, Dr. Torres will not be the first major character to leave.
The "Grey's Anatomy" season 12 finale will air on May 19, Thursday.
