Nintendo's games continue to flourish this year as the 2016 shortlist induction into the World Video Game Hall of Fame eye "The Legend of Zelda," "Pokémon Red," and "Pokémon Green."
The six inductees for 2016 are out and there is a considerable success for Nintendo, while avid fans of certain blue blur as well have reasons to smile, according to Nintendo Life. This year's new arrivals include "GTA III," "The Legend of Zelda," "The Oregon Trail," "The Sims," "Sonic the Hedgehog," and "Space Invaders."
From the list, Nintendo now has had two of its popular franchises feature in the Hall of Fame for their NES efforts, with "Tetris" also being an unexpected introduction of 2015. Last year, Nintendo had its "Super Mario Bros." and "Tetris" among the first games to be inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame.
Meanwhile, Nintendo is set to unveil "The Legend of Zelda" demo during the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) this June. The company said that the demo will treat fans with an immersive Zelda experience, in addition to its liberty of exploration. Nintendo is convinced that gamers who play the demo will part with a deeper insight of "something new for the franchise."
In a statement obtained by VG247, series producer Eiji Aonuma said that the upcoming installment in "The Legend of Zelda" franchise will be "a clean break from the conventions of previous games," as it removes boundaries." Gamers will no longer be compelled to follow a specific path, and it will bring new gameplay, which has not been experienced in the earlier titles.
The producer initially said that avid fans should anticipate something new for the franchise just like it was the case with "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" during the Nintendo 64 generation. Earlier Zelda games were somehow large and forced gamers to roam about the world. As a result, Aonuma was reluctant to describe "The Legend of Zelda Wii U" as an open world game.
"The Legend of Zelda" will launch for Wii U and Nintendo NX simultaneously in 2017. Watch the footage below for more information on "The Legend of Zelda."
