Stephen Curry is completely taking over the NBA after beating Kobe Bryant and LeBron James in the 2015-2016 NBA jersey sales. Knicks rookie sensation Kristaps Porzingis and Thunder superstar Kevin Durant also made it in the top five.
According to ESPN, Curry tops the list of NBA jersey sales for the second-consecutive year. He was also named back-to-back league MVP after leading the Golden State Warriors to an NBA regular season record of 73-9.
The 28-year-old also averaged 30.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 2.1 steals. He also became the first player in NBA history to hit 400 threes in one season.
Bryant, who retired at the end of the regular season, came in second and also set the record for most merchandise sold in a game with $1.2 million. On the other hand, James sits third on the list but his jersey was the top seller in the state of Ohio. The only other state where Curry's jersey was not the best seller is in Oklahoma.
The surprise of the 2015-16 NBA jersey sales is Porzingis, who became the first rookie since the 2003-04 season, to make it to the top five of the jersey rankings. The last two rookies to make the list were James and Carmelo Anthony who were the top two sellers of the 2003-04 season.
Porzingis is one of the best rookies this season, but he will not win the Rookie of the Year award against Karl-Anthony Towns. The Knicks had a very mediocre season but the play of their Latvian rookie has captivated the city of New York and the world.
According to the Washington Post, Russell Westbrook of the Thunder, Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls, Kawhi Leonard of the San Antonio Spurs, Kyrie Irving Cleveland Cavaliers and Jimmy Butler of the Bulls made it into the top ten.
James Harden of the Houston Rockets came in at number 11 with Curry's teammates, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green taking the next two spots. Golden State became the first team to have three players on the top 15 of the NBA jersey sales.
Paul George of Indiana Pacers had a bounce back season after a horrific injury and cracked the list at number 14. Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat barely made the cut while five other stars dropped from last year's top 15.
Those stars are Chris Paul and Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers, John Wall of the Washington Wizards, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers and Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks.
