Akira Toriyama and Toei Animation revealed the design for Future Trunks in the upcoming "Dragon Ball Super" arc. It was surprising that Trunks' iconic purple locks were colored blue and now there are speculations that this change in color could have some implication.
"Dragon Ball Super's" new arc will begin in a few weeks. Many rumors have surfaced about the details that were unveiled by the series creator and Toei Animation during a massive announcement this past week.
"Dragon Ball Super" television anime series official website unveiled that the series will commence a "Future Trunks Arc" on June 12. Toriyama is plotting the storyline and designing the new characters for the narrative, including Trunks' design.
When Trunks' design was revealed, many fans discovered that the character's iconic purple hair color changed to a light blue hue. While the change might only be cosmetic for purposes of the upcoming arc, it is alleged that there might be a hidden meaning behind this change.
The blue hair color might foreshadow that Trunks will reach Super Saiyan Blue in the upcoming arc, according to Saiyan Island official website. Coming from a future with a very dangerous threat in the form of Black Goku, it is possible that Trunks will have already reached the power level far beyond what he could initially manage.
Furthermore, fans speculate about the main villain of the upcoming storyline - known by the moniker Black Goku. The name alone means that the character is a tainted version of Goku, and therefore, the great power that the character possesses is of critical significance.
Given that Trunks comes from a future where Black Goku is running amok, fans speculate that the color alteration in his locks is something that he did himself, probably after something very significant. A likely scenario in this theory is that Black Goku will kill many people in future, including Trunk's mother, Bulma. Trunks' new hair color is the same as his mother's hair color.
Therefore, fans allege that Trunks might have colored his hair blue to honor his mother, who died because of Black Goku's tyranny. Toriyama mentioned that Trunks will come from a universe that is ravaged.
