E.L James' book, "Fifty Shades of Grey," which stars Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan and Rita Ora, caught the attention of the masses because of erotic love scenes, and now, it is being immortalized on the big screen. In light of the much anticipated opening of the movie, fans will be served with a movie ending according to the author's concept and idea, instead of the director Sam Taylor-Johnson's.
Universal Studios bought the rights in the James' material, but was given the right to have control over the storyline.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the movie is something you do not want to watch with your mother.
The issues that surrounded the preferred ending hounded the industry citing that although James has the right to the storyline, she may have gone too far in exercising her rights. Hollywood critics have a different idea as they believe the concept of a story from a book to the big screen may have a very contrasting way of expressing it and that a storyline from a book cannot be literally applied in films.
Universal Studios have not yet aired their side regarding the issue. It is said that fans and supporters who may have read the story may support James, but the issue of enticing viewers to look forward to the next installment may mean needing a different ending in the big screen.
The "Fifty Shades of Grey" trailer alone recorded at least 250 million views according to the Hollywood Reporter. This is through its airing at the Super Bowl XLIX where millions of people were watching. The teaser featured scenes where Anastacia (Johnson) becomes curious about what's behind the secret door to which Christian (Dornan) answered, "my playroom."
More than 100 million of E.L James' books have been sold all over the world, and the trailer alone doubled the number of views to 250 million.
