"The Family" season 1 was recently cancelled by ABC, and fans of the show are utterly surprised with the network's decision.
On Sunday night, the new series ended with a major cliffhanger that confirmed that Adam Warren is still alive.
Unfortunately, there's no way for viewers to find out what exactly happened to Adam in the bunker and what Ben Murphy's (Liam James) involvement in his death was.
In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Jenna Bans explained that they purposely didn't show Adam dying because they didn't want viewers to think that he's already dead.
"We didn't want to cheat the audience in terms of showing a fake death. We really didn't show him die. If you look back in episode 7, their escape route in this tunnel is foiled, and then in the next flashback, Adam is lying there all sweaty, and Ben is helpless and doesn't know what to do," she said.
Bans added that she's hopeful that they were able to deliver a satisfying finale for all of their fans.
"I'm hoping we delivered a finale where, even if the fans know Adam's return is might be coming, it's still satisfying for them to see how and when it happened," she said.

@Dina added that everyone should just boycott ABC.
One fan @Lisa wrote, "ABC stinks! They always cancel the best shows and keep stinky ones on. I'm getting tired of ABC. No sense to start watching a series on ABC cause they only cancel them... Well at least the best shows."
