The movie adaptation of the "Tetris" video game is already confirmed and it is going to be a trilogy. The "Tetris" movie will be funded by Threshold Global Studios having a budget of $80 million which will start its production next year.
According to Deadline, Threshold Global studios is a joint venture by Larry Kasanoff of Threshold Entertainment and Chinese billionaire Brian Wu's Seven Star Works. The co-producers, Kasanoff and Wu have been working with "Tetris" company since last year and now that they have secured the film budget, they are aiming to make this science-fiction thriller film a success globally with Americans and Chinese actors.
The movie is going to be huge according to the producers and the essential things that are needed for the movie to start filming are almost in place. They aim to start the production of the movie next year in China and some other locations.
In the 80s, "Tetris" was just a famous game that almost everyone plays but next year, "Tetris" gamers will be seeing a whole story behind it. The "Tetris" movie that was initially reported in 2014 is said to be an action film. As relayed by The Wall Street Journal, Threshold's CEO Larry Kasanoff said, "This isn't a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page. We're not giving feet to the geometric shapes."
Kasanoff already expected that everyone knows the brand "Tetris" but what the people do not know is the epic sci-fi story that they are going to make for the movie. The producers are very tight-lipped about the details of the movie which means there are no movie plots revealed yet.
Kasanoff said that the movie will be a full surprise and it is not what the people think it is. Since the synopsis is yet to be released, there are now many speculations going on about the film. Some fans suggested an idea that it would be an alien invasion where their ships are shaped like the geometric figures that you can see in the classic video game. For now, moviegoers will just have to keep themselves posted for upcoming "Tetris" movie updates.
