Rumors are rife that JYP's girl group Miss A has disbanded following the departure of Jia as her contract with the label ended on May 20.
In an official statement, JYP Entertainment revealed, "We are informing you about miss A members Jia and Fei's contracts. Jia's contract with JYP Entertainment ended on May 20. We genuinely support Jia who has spent a long time with JYP Entertainment and hope that her future will be even brighter."
Fei has decided to renew her contract with JYP. Without Jia, the members are down to three. Miss A last activities was last year and there are no concrete plans for this year's activities as a group.
Jia, who was from China, has been gaining popularity as an actress in her country, and it is suspected that she will pursue her new career in China upon leaving Miss A.
JYP responds
Meanwhile, JYP responded to Miss A disbandment rumors saying, "It is only Jia leaving the group. miss A will not disband. While there aren't any plans for an album or comeback activities for some time, the three members will focus on individual activities."
Korean members Suzy and Min's contracts are due to expire next year. The two are currently busy with their solo activities.
Following the departure of Jia, it has been rumored that Miss A's most popular member and maknae Suzy will embark in her career as a solo artist. This rumor is nothing new as it started when she collaborated with SM artist Baekhyun, "Dream". Watch the official music video of the track below released by Mystic Entertainment.
Moreover, Suzy obviously had so many parts in the title "Only You" in Miss A's latest album. JYP Entertainment has not revealed what is in store for Suzy's career and for the rest of Miss A.
