Google is speculated to release Android N to the general public by August. Hence, fresh speculations are indicating that the Nexus 2016 smartphones will release in the same month.
At the I/O 2016 event that was, Google unveiled the new features of Android N as well as its other products. Dave Bucker, the Vice-President of engineering with the search engine giant, revealed that Android N release date will be set in late summer. Hence, the rumor mill is now claiming that the Nexus 2016 smartphones will be also unveiled earlier this year by late summer, The Verge reported.
Earlier this year, Google surprised Android users by releasing the developer build of Android N. The company is known for announcing new Android version and its features through the I/O event that is usually held in May. However, the first Android N Developer Preview as made available in March. Also, the second preview was released in April.
When the first preview was released, the search engine giant had confirmed that it would be releasing five preview builds before launching the final version of Android N to the general users. At the last week's Google I/O 2016 event, the Android N Developer 3 Preview was released for eligible devices such as Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, and Pixel C tablet.
Google has rolled out three preview builds of Android N in three consecutive months. Hence, it is expected to release fourth and fifth preview respectively in June and July. Hence, the final build is speculated to be available in August.
In 2015, Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS was launched preinstalled in Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X smartphones in October. Since Android N release date is now speculated in August, the upcoming and rumored HTC Nexus 2016 smartphones are expected to launch preinstalled with the new OS in the same month.
HTC is rumored to be working on two Nexus smartphones with respective screen sizes of 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch. These phones are speculated to replace Nexus 5X and 6P smartphones. Both the upcoming Nexus smartphones carry respective codenames of Marlin (M1) and Sailfish (S1), Android Police reported.
Other rumors suggestion Google will continue to collaborate with Huawei this year in building a 7-inch tablet. An upgraded Nexus 6P with specs like Snapdragon 820 and 4 GB of RAM is also speculated to release this year.
