The WWE will be holding a superstar draft to know which superstars will be representing Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. According to the latest rumors, one of the superstars that may be drafted to SmackDown is Sasha Banks.
The biggest wrestling company in the world decided to bring back the brand extension last week. It was also announced that SmackDown will be airing live starting on July 19. The USA Network has urged the WWE to boost the ratings of their shows and the brand split may be the answer.
The WWE has started to promote the draft and the brand extension as they posted a recent video of Sasha Banks. The Boss openly stated that she wants to get drafted to SmackDown because she grew watching the show.
Banks added that all of her favorite wrestlers were on SmackDown like Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio. She also mentioned that she cannot wait for the draft this July and she is really hoping to represent the blue brand.
According to Cageside Seats, it is not the first time Banks has openly stated her desire to wrestle on SmackDown if a brand extension happens. The former NXT women's champion is coming off a head injury and she returned to action this weekend during the latest WWE live events in Wisconsin and Canada.
The 24-year-old has not appeared on WWE television since "Payback" on May 1 and she last wrestled on the Raw after WrestleMania 32. Nonetheless, she has been cleared of her injury and it is very interesting to see where she will be heading.
There were rumors saying that Banks will be part of a storyline that will lead to a run with the WWE women's championship. Many fans were hoping that she will be the one saving Natalya from a Charlotte and Dana Brooke beatdown in the recent episode of Raw, but it was Becky Lynch who came out.
According to Wrestling Inc, there is a list going around online about the possible superstars getting drafted to Raw and SmackDown. Banks is currently listed as part of Raw but nothing has been confirmed at the moment.
The WWE is planning the brand extension very carefully in order for it to be successful. Plans are always subject to changes due to information leaking online and injuries to the superstars.
