It looks like Soma and Erina's relationship will finally start to blossom as in "Shokugeki no Soma" chapter 169, the son of Erina's most admired cook will make her reminisce about his father's unequalled cooking prowess.
Last chapter, Erina revealed to Soma how much of a role model his father was to her. It appears Erina was starting to lose her interest in the gourmet world after tasting lackluster dishes one after another. One day, while walking in a hallway, she smelled someone cooking which led her to the room where her grandfather and Soma's dad are.
Joichiro finds out Erina is Azami's daughter and she lets the little girl grab a bite of his cooking. As Erina described it, her interest for food was invigorated and from that point on, she could not stop thinking about Soma's father and she even insisted to her grandfather to tell her more about the master chef.
However, her happy days were cut short when her father started to train her to become who she is today. Upon hearing her story, Soma immediately offered Erina to stay as he will try to replicate his father's cooking to please Erina.
In "Shokugeki no Soma" chapter 169, fans are expecting Soma and Erina's friendship to develop after this eventful night. In fact, some fans over at Reddit believe this will even lead to a romantic relationship between the two. Their tight bond could potentially trigger a movement that could oppose Central. With Soma's cooking and Erina's influence, they may just have what it takes to evict Central out of power.
Also, Soma is expected to be very delighted after countless times Erina rejected his cooking. In the next chapter, the reserved lady may just utter the words "it was good," which will fulfill Soma's goal since chapter one.
Meanwhile, fans over at Manga Helpers discussed what type of food Soma will make her eat. Some suggest it will be the food listed on the menu of their small restaurant but he will end it with a squid that Megumi Tadokoro and the others greatly hated.
