The New York Knicks are furiously shopping to fill up the void at the point guard position and they have two candidates in mind if the top dog doesn't choose them.

Rajon Rondo is the NBA's assist leader and could still be a solid option at the point. He had earlier shunned the idea of playing the triangle offense, but he has recently changed his tune with his statements to Ryan Lazo of the NY Post.

"I had a comment earlier about it, but if I put my mind at it, I think I can be good at anything," Rondo said.

Rondo didn't stop at the triangle as he was all praises about Madison Square Garden and the city in general.

"It's one of those arenas," Rondo said. "That's the biggest lights. It's Broadway. ... Madison Square Garden is the mecca of basketball, so it's always great going there and perform in front of a lot of fans."

He then proceeded to pay back Anthony for recruiting him.  "We have a lot of respect for each other," Rondo said of Anthony. "He competes every night and plays extremely hard and I think I do the same."

One final note on the Triangle for good measure: "The Lakers have proven you can have success. Even go back to the old Bulls. I think it's about personnel and it's about having the right guys. You need guys with a high IQ, who really know the game well to break down film and become great at it."

It seems like Rondo is now lobbying to play the point position for the Knicks after a seeming snub months ago. Why the change of heart? Is he not getting a lot of offers? Speculation can run wild at this point but it could be that the Knicks is a legit destination.

However, Rondo is not the sole target and he may not be the Zen Master's choice. An intriguing comment from Ian Begley of ESPN named another candidate.

"Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson also has fans in the Knicks organization, but it seems as if Los Angeles will retain the second-year player."

Is Phil Jackson a Clarkson fan? The Lakers guard is a rather tall point guard that is ideal for the triangle. He also doesn't demand the ball like Rondo does. The caveat is that Clarkson wants to stay with the Lakers and the feeling is mutual.
