Microsoft's current console, Xbox One, has been among the biggest and widely used consoles globally after its release in May 2013. While Xbox One has been in the market for only three years, fans are already clamoring for its successor.
Rumors are rife about the next generation console, which could be called Xbox 2. Microsoft is yet to give any official information about its next console, but it is likely that the tech giant will unveil Xbox 2 during the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016. Speculation will continue increasing about the next console as E3 2016 draws closer.
Many details that are already available about Xbox 2 give a clear indicator that its release date is much closer. In factor, Xbox 2 has been codenamed Xbox Scorpio, according to Alphr.
The publication added that the looming next generation of the console from Microsoft could have a huge 2 TB hard drive. In addition, Xbox 2 could support 4K gaming since it will come with a more powerful GPU.
Sony has set a faster than expected timeline to upgrade its PlayStation 4. This could be motivation for Microsoft to release its next generation console so that it can keep up with the competition, according to Polygon. Since Xbox and PlayStation are two biggest rivals, Microsoft could ready to surprise fans with Xbox 2 so that it can get ahead of the PS4 upgrade.
Meanwhile, four new games from the Xbox 360 have been added for Xbox One Backward Compatibility. Confirming via twitter, Xbox's Larry Hryb said that more titles have been incorporated to the program.
Avid fans can now get the discs for "Foul Play," "Sega Bass Fishing," "XCOM: Enemy Within, and Monopoly Plus." While more games were expected to be included before E3 2016 commences in Los Angeles, this is the second time this week that the tech giant has released a new batch of the tittles.
The company did not give a specific date for the release of new Xbox 360 classics, opting to announce the games at any convenient time. Watch the sneak peek below for more information on the upcoming Xbox 2.
