Electronic Arts has revealed the world's first Battlefield 1 gameplay trailer at its E3 2016 presentation and it wowed the players with a variety of weapons and drivable vehicles from the first World War.
Battlefield 1 is taking a step back to the first World War which is the opposite of what Activision's Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is doing. Players of DICE's new installment in the shooter franchise will be able to fight as different soldiers during the war complete with the varying weapons, tanks, zeppelins and warships.
The gameplay trailer shown on E3 also showed how the environment can be destroyed gradually with the nonstop hail of bullets and grenades. Covers can be blown up too which means players will have to keep moving all the time.
EA and DICE have revealed that there will be a multiplayer campaign in Battlefield 1 that will feature several matches, GameSpot has learned. It could be a fresh take on the multiplayer aspect of the game as plain old free for all or deathmatch type of matches can be too plain for someone's tastes.
"Through your actions, the pristine world around you will change into a battle-scarred landscape, changing the world forever," said EA.
Battlefield 1 is turning out to be one of the largest installment's yet for the franchise. The Battlefield Hardline release last year did not garner much attention from fans and players.
The game's reveal trailer has also received several million likes. In contrast, the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare trailer already has more than 2.8 million dislikes on YouTube.
One possible reason why Battlefield 1 is gaining more positive feedback today is because it stands out from the saturated market of shooters with futuristic and sci-fi elements, Forbes reported. The recent COD games have been turning into futuristic shooters and the Halo franchise already is set in outer space.
Video games are becoming more saturated and repetitive with the exception of a few. Independent games such as Firewatch and Gone Home also received positive feedback from the community but they have not been widely successful because they lack the marketing prowess of the big studios.
Battlefield 1 will be launching on October 21 with an open beta set for the later part of summer. Players can get the game early on October 18 if they have preordered the special edition of the title.
