Chinese telecom giant Huawei Honor recently announced the launch of a new smartphone, Honor 5C, in India next week through a teaser on a social networking site. Press invites were sent out to clients for the launch event schedule in New Delhi on June 22. 

Although the teaser released on Twitter does not mention the device name, the feature "Kirin 650" clearly shows that it is same phone that was launched in China in April. The Chinese company is expected to launch the 4G model in the budget smartphone category.

The teaser also specifies the launch date as it reads, "Beautiful pictures in a snap with Kirin 650 16nm chipset on our latest phone. Launching, June 22. #DareToPerform." In this message, 16nm specifies the Huawei Kirin 650 SOC processor, assembled on 16nm FinFET plus process that claims to be more powerful than the 28nm process in Snapdragon 616, reported Android Pure.

Boasting an IPS LCD 5.2-inch 1080p full HD screen, the handset has a screen resolution of 1920x1080p with pixel density at 424ppi. Huawei Honor 5C weighs 156g and measures 147.1 x 73.8 x 8.3 mm. It is fuelled by octa-core Kirin 650 processor, 2GB of RAM and Mali-T830 MP2 GPU.

Camera features include a 13MP primary shooter with LED flash and an 8MP secondary snapper designed with f/2.0 aperture. While the phone runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 operating system, it is equipped with Huawei's home-built EMUI 4.1.

 The handset is supported by a non-removable battery with 3000 mAh strength, while it comes with an inbuilt storage capacity of 16GB, which is expandable up to 256GB. Other features include dual-SIM slots, fingerprint sensor and FM Radio.

The fingerprint scanner, which is positioned just below the rear camera can be used to unlock the keypad of the device in 0.5 seconds. Aside from using 4G connectivity, the handset supports Glonass, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, GPRS/EDGE, etc. Additionally, the phone comes packed with a Micro-USB charging port.

The handset, which is sold at ¥899 (approx. US$136) in China, is expected to be priced around Rs. 10,000 in India. (approx. US$149) in India. Honor 5C's predecessor, Honor 4C, was priced at an exorbitant rate of US$199.98 to compete with its rivals, as listed on Fone Arena
