Rockstar will not be unveiling GTA 6 anytime soon but the rumors for the GTA 5 sequel are just starting to surface with a release date pegged for 2018.
The E3 2016 conference from Rockstar will be suited for the GTA V DLC instead. No announcements regarding Grand Theft Auto VI will be made during the presentation at the annual game expo.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has confirmed that there will be huge projects unveiling during the event. However, there hasn't been any confirmation yet as to what they are or if they will be for the multiplayer or single player aspect of the game.
There are speculations that GTA 6 will be set in London instead of the usual United States-based cities and locations, Patent Herald has learned. It was initially reported that the GTA V sequel will be set outside the US and in Tokyo but the rumor was quickly squashed as the project was cancelled even before the development began.
Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser said that they do not want to limit the Grand Theft Auto franchise to the American culture as their previous games have already shown. They are looking to expand their horizons with the franchise and the next sequel could be their first step.
GTA 6 would also feature both male and female playable characters besides the new car stunts, Movie News Guide reported. The game could already be in the development as Rockstar's five-year sequel cycle is expected to hit a new one in 2018.
For now, GTA 5 Online players will have to be content with the onslaught of DLCs being rolled out. The "Finance and Felony" update brings more weapons, cars and opportunities for players to take over parts of the city.
The story of GTA 6 could then be set in London with both male and female protagonists leading the plot. Rockstar is still expected to unveil the new details of their GTA V sequel slated for release in 2018 possibly for the PlayStation NEO and the Xbox Scorpio that are able to run games smoothly at 4K resolution with VR capabilities.
