Is Newly Revealed ‘Dragon Ball Super’ Villain Goku Black a Supreme Kai or God of Destruction?

"Dragon Ball Super" Episode 50, which is scheduled to air July 3, will see Sun Goku facing off with Goku Black but the latter's real identity will not be known until a few weeks after or during the July 31 broadcast of DBS Episode 53. Prior to the expected epic battle, fans are scrambling to know who Goku Black is. 

One thing is sure, according to a new Forbes report, Goku Black is destined to play a crucial role on the Future Trunks storyline of Dragon Ball Super. And while Black is a Goku, the character is far from being a Saiyan. He certainly is a deity but of the evil kind.

The Goku Black characterization alone betrays his deified beginning. The same Forbes report observed that "Goku Black holds his hands behind his back," which is a stance that is normally identified with so-called Kais. Fans are convinced that Black is either a Supreme Kai or a God of Destruction that crossed over from an unknown realm.

The indicators are glaring that Goku Black is out to sow destruction in terrifying magnitude. It should be recalled that he initially appeared riding in dark clouds, his piercing red eyes mirroring only of devilish purposes. The consensus among DBS fans is that the new Son Goku nemesis is a Demon Realm Supreme Kai. Black Goku after all makes generous use of the dark ki, Forbes noted.

What's even more frightening is the thought of a God of Destruction arriving in the form of Goku Black. Forbes said that out of the 18 universe in DBS, six have been blown into pieces and the newly arrived dark divinity is no doubt partly (or solely) responsible.

But really the one undeniable sign that Goku Black is a least a Kai is the Potara earring that dangles on his left ear. According to Dragon Ball Wikia, Potara is an ear jewel standard to all Supreme Kais and is described as "an incredible power-up item."

One use of Potara seen in the past is the fusion of two powers into a mammoth entity in terms of power, which if Goku Black will employ could spell disaster for Sun Goku.

And a taste of which is likely forthcoming as Anime Feeds confirmed that the epic Sun Goku-Goku Black slugfest is the highlight of Dragon Ball Super Episode 50. Accompanying the revelation is the hint that the match will see round two as DBS E53 teased the Goku Black unmasking.
