Almost three years after the success of Eminem and Rihanna's song "The Monster," Bebe Rexha visited the Philippines for the annual "MTV Music Evolution Manila" concert. Eminem and Rexha co-wrote the Billboard Hot 100 number one song with Jon Bellion.
Born to ethnic Albanian parents in Brooklyn, New York City, Rexha attended Tottenville High School in Staten Island, New York. She was the lead vocalist of the band Black Cards, which was formed by Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz in 2010.
"I've never in a million years thought I'll be visiting the Philippines because number one, I hate to fly," Manila Bulletin quoted Rexha as saying during a press conference in Manila. "I'm so scared of flying, but being here and facing my fears and meeting all you people makes me feel grateful."
For Rexha, her fans are now part of who she is. She said they made her grow as a human being and she is very thankful.
In addition, Rexha pointed out that her success as a pop star is more than just about having hit songs, being famous and earning a million dollars. Instead, she said it is about connecting with people and making them feel that they are not alone.
In the recent issue of Entertainment Weekly, Rexha said she is proud of her work, of how far she has come and of the way that she did it. According to the singer-songwriter, she rolled up her sleeves and told herself that she wanted to make a mark on this world.
During the "MTV Music Evolution Manila" concert, Rexha performed "Me, Myself and I," her collaboration song with rapper G-Eazy. She also sang "Take Me Home," "No Broken Hearts" and "The Monster."
Featuring Nicki Minaj, "No Broken Hearts" is the lead single from Rexha's upcoming debut studio album. The Invisible Men and Salt Wives produced the song, which Rexha and Minaj co-wrote with Jacob Kasher Hindlin and Koko LaRoo.
Released on July 13, 2013, "Take Me Home" is a song from electronic trio Cash Cash's third EP "Overtime" with Rexha as a featured artist. Watch the music video here:
