Asus has released its Asus Zenbook UX305, a 13.3-inch Ultrabook that's not only powerful but also affordable at $699.
According to Asus, its newest Zenbook is the thinnest in the market so far, measuring only 0.48 inches and weighing in at 2.6 pounds. Perhaps the best aspect of this ultrabook is its price tag of only $699.
It still baffles tech analysts how Asus managed to combine great specs and functionality that includes In-Plane Switching and full HD display at 1080p, according to Maximum PC.
Under the hood, the Asus Zenbook UX305 is also a powerful workhorse with a dual-core Intel Core M 5Y10 processor. It has 8 GB of LPDDR3-1600 memory and 256 GB SSD storage. It also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capability, an HD webcam with 720p resolution and a micro HDMI port.
The Asus UX305 has three USB 3.0 ports with one port used for charging. It has an SD card reader and an audio output port and fitted with ASUS SonicMaster audio system. It comes in with a 45Wh battery and a pre-installed copy of Windows 8.1.
Many critics were quick to point out it would have been excellent if Asus decided to fit its ultrabook with a quad-core chip. The decent set of hardware and additional features, however, make up for that lack of computing power. The Zenbook UX305 comes in a solid aluminum casing and a wedge-like design.
"A refined new shape that incorporates the DNA of the classic Zenbook gives the UX305 a subtle new wedge design and elegantly-tapered and smooth diamond-cut edges that emphasized the sleek ultra-thin chassis", said Asus.
The Asus Zenbook UX305 can be ordered directly from Asus for $699. Asus also confirmed that it will be soon release a QHD+ model that will have a 3200 x 1800 display capability.
