Rockstar Games released a new version of its classic game, "The Warriors" in PS4. The said game is already downloadable online. With the sudden launching of a PS4 version, speculations soon surfaced that a sequel to the famous game may be released in 2017.
"The Warriors" is based on a movie bearing the same title with a theme more focused on brawling, Game Spot reported. As its production description stated, it's setting is in New York in the year 1979. The description continued, "A battle on the streets. The armies of the night number 60,000 strong, and tonight they're all after The Warriors--a street gang wrongly accused of killing a rival gang leader."
The new PS4 version features a full 1080p graphics and other enhanced features such as Trophies, Shareplay, Remote Play, Activity Feeds and Second Screen support for game manuals with PS Vita or PS App, the report added.
Fans should not expect new content as the game is still based on its 2005 story and gameplay when it was first released in PS2. Although some may think the move for releasing a PS4 version of the game is a random move from Rock Star Games, it was announced just recently that a TV series for "The Warriors" is already in the making. Producers, Joe and Anthony Russo will be the ones responsible for the TV project, Game Rant reported.
As two of Rockstar's plans already shipped interest from long-time fans, this may open a possibility on revisiting its successor, "We Are The Mods." If the re-release of the classic game happens to be a hit, it may not be long enough for the developer to consider launching the said sequel in a new console in the future, the report added.
It is expected that bulk of Rock Star PS2 games will also be re-released in the future now that "The Warriors" was able to be launched successfully. As of the moment, the game is now available on PlayStation Store for £11.99. The game was able to receive an 8.6 rating from one of its review.
