Rockstar Games has recorded a lot of success in every release of "Grand Theft Auto" installment across different platforms. As a result, it is somehow odd that after the launch of "GTA V" in 2013, there is still no news about the release of the sixth installment in the "GTA" franchise. Fans are clamoring for every bit of information about the release date of "GTA 6."
The upcoming installment could very well become the biggest announcement ever. However, with Rockstar keeping mum on information about 'GTA 6," and especially since the game missed during last month's E3, there are indications that the developer is hesitant in developing a new game. There is also likelihood that the company is currently busy with another game to the extent that it has no time for "GTA 6."
Rumors have been rife about the setting of the much-awaited game. Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser teased that the new "GTA" game may take place outside the American territory, according to Neurogadget. The only way of deviating from a display of American culture is to have the game happen in a different setting.
With Houser's statement, many speculations emerged, including that of "GTA 6" happening in Japan. Latest reports suggest that the sixth installment in the "GTA" franchise will possibly be set in London.
There are claims that the reason behind Rockstar not releasing a new "GTA" game is that it is finding a way to integrate a world map. If the rumors are true, it could take years to develop the map, which makes sense why the game developer is delaying announcements for "GTA 6."
When it come to the release date, it is rumored that the sixth installment in the "GTA" franchise will come out between 2018 and 2020, according to the same publication. There is indication that Rockstar has been giving a five-year waiting period between sequels. Since "GTA 5" release back in 2013, it is speculated that the game developer is planning to maintain a five-year gap to release "GTA 6" in 2018.
On the contrary, there is a seven-year gap between the release of "GTA III" and "GTA IV." As a result, some fans believe that Rockstar Games may choose to go back to this trend and release "GTA VI" in 2020.
