''Suicide Squad'' is a highly awaited movie from the world of DC Entertainment and is based on DC Comics antihero team which bears the same name. As per the latest update, Jared Leto who will be playing the role of Joker has teased about his character in the movie.
This psychopathic supervillain's role in the upcoming American superhero film will be less melodramatic and more lethal. Even though this Clown Prince of Crime wants to reunite with his lady love Harley Quinn, (played by Margot Robbie) his supernatural powers fail to do so. This increases agitation in the antihero, Entertainment Weekly reported.
"You're kind of walking upon hallowed ground, and it deserves the very best that you can do," confessed Leto about his role which took him to the levels to meeting psychopaths in real life. "It takes over your life and that's what I needed to do for myself'' he added further.
In the past he had described his character as "nearly Shakespearean" to Screen Rant. According to him, this is one of the best comic characters in the history of Hollywood movies. The negativity embedded into the humour will make it truly a lethal combination. When this role was offered to Leto, he talked candidly about it and called it "beautiful disaster of a character."
He also had confirmed that he would be playing some mind-games in the movie and it was a unique opportunity for him to play the role of Joker in this movie. The director David Ayer had started a journey in September 2014 to write and direct this film and it is in the post-production stage now. Leto also confirmed that playing those psychological games were the need of the movie; however they were painful to the character.
The appearance of the character was inspired by Mexican cartel bosses and Alejandro Jodorowsky completed the look. While talking about the characterisation of Joker, the director Ayer mentioned that Leto was scary on the sets and his powerful enigma intimidated everyone around him. Leto had submerged himself completely in the character and had cut himself off from the world during the filming of the movie ''Suicide Squad.''
And to end the filming, Leto actually went to the level of giving his co-actors and crew parting gifts, which only the character Joker can give. There were pornographic magazines, a switch blade, some sex toys etc. which fit in exactly in the groove of his character in the movie.
