NVIDIA has just released their new GeForce 368.81 WHQL driver that includes the support for the anticipated Ansel tool which can now be used for Mirror's Edge Catalyst as one of the first games.
When NVIDIA was pitching the new GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 video card, they have highlighted NVIDIA Ansel as one of the new features with the Pascal GPUs. It allows users to capture more than just a screenshot of their games.
NVIDIA Ansel allows players to capture a whole moment inside their game using several perspectives which means they are not limited to a third-person or first-person point of view. The tool was demonstrated using the new Mirror's Edge Catalyst game from DICE.
The NVIDIA Ansel tool is activated in the Mirror's Edge Catalyst title just by pressing Alt and F2 at the same time, The Verge has learned. Pressing the button combination freezes whatever Faith is doing inside the game as the player is given more options on how to take or capture the moment.
More features with the new tool also include photo-editing options such as adjusting the contrast, brightness and other filters. Users can even change the field of view to capture more or less of the scene depending on their tastes and preferences.
The 360-degree shots from NVIDIA Ansel can also be viewed by smartphones and even through VR with a Google Cardboard headset. PC users can also explore the frozen moment with their HTC Vive or Oculus Rift.
NVIDIA has also provided some much needed fixes and improvements with the new 368.81 WHQL driver for the GTX 1080, GTX 1070 and other video cards. The new driver fixes the common problem of users who have a GTX 1080 that does not let the monitor turn on when they try to boot through DVI at more than 80Hz refresh rates or 330MHz pixel clocks, WCCFTech reported.
The GeForce 368.81 driver also features a fix for VR games that can significantly improve their framerates. GPU Boost now does not apply to games in VR for better compatibility and stability.
NVIDIA GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 users can now download the new GeForce 368.81 driver to try out the fixes and the new NVIDIA Ansel tool inside Mirror's Edge Catalyst. They can download it through the GeForce drivers website or through their GeForce Experience app.
