Custom Polaris 10 cards are now popping up as the new PowerColor RX 480 Devil photos and specs have been revealed after the XFX variant also surfaced.
Some may find the new PowerColor Radeon RX 480 Devil offensive as it clearly is a video card made for the devil himself. The box and the backplate of the card both have the satanic pentagram printed on them.
The photos that come from Benchlife show a Polaris 10 card with a black and red color scheme really suited for the devil theme. Users will be glad to know that the RX 480 custom card from PowerColor is also factory overclocked which gives them more room for better performance.
PowerColor's Radeon RX 480 Devil card has a turbo speed of 1400MHz from the base clock of 1336MHz which is already factory overclocked, WCCFTech has learned. That would make it instantly more powerful than the reference RX 480 cards which have been found to draw more power than the safe limit from the PCIE slot.
Fortunately, AMD fixed the issue with the new Crimson drivers. Users can now rest easy knowing that their motherboards won't suddenly short circuit or blow up due to the RX 480's extra power draw.
Since the power draw issue seems to be over, the new custom cards seem to be a better choice for those looking to milk their Polaris 10 GPU for performance. The PowerColor Radeon RX 480 Devil custom card is only air cooled but it can still handle the overclock well as it has three fans to dissipate the heat, TechFrag reported.
The PowerColor Radeon RX 480 Devil photos that have surfaced show an 8GB GDDR5 model. It is now known whether there will be a 4GB version in the future.
One probable turn-off for customers is the PowerColor Radeon RX 480 Devil price which is set at $312 for the 8GB model. The reference RX 480 only costs $239 and $199 for the 4GB variant.
PowerColor or AMD has not yet set a release date for the Radeon RX 480 Devil or any other custom card such as those from XFX. It is expected to be rolled out in a couple of weeks since the reference cards have already been launched on June 29.
