Nathalie Emmanuel has recently revealed a Marvel superhero character that she would want to portray. The "Game of Thrones" star mentioned that she would be interested in playing the hero Iron Man.
The actress made the revelation during a panel titled "Women Who Kick A--" held at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con. When the British star was asked to name a character that she would want to play, Emmanuel made mention of Robert Downey Jr.'s "Iron Man" movie series, Games Radar reported.
She shared her enjoyment in watching the "Iron Man" films and commented that playing a character similar to Marvel's Tony Stark would be fun. The "Game of Thrones" actress teased that portraying a science genius who can fight bad guys would be a good casting idea. Emmanuel also took notice of what she labeled as an "issue" around science films and women who are knowledgeable in technology.
Despite the British star's statement, it is unclear if Downey Jr. will retire his Marvel superhero role in the near future. Although the actor has indicated in previous interviews that he has no plans to reprise his billionaire hero role in another standalone installment to the "Iron Man" franchise.
Meanwhile, the Marvel comic books have already revealed Tony's predecessor Riri Williams. The said character is a 15-year-old black girl who has created her own version of an Iron Man suit. Some fans have speculated that Emmanuel may be referring to the female Iron Man in her statement.
A female Iron Man story may also be a potential plot line that Marvel Studios could consider in the future. However, Emmanuel may not be a good fit for the said character given the age requirement for the role, as indicated in the same report.
In other news, Marvel writer Brian Michael Bendis has shared in an interview with Time that avid fans should look forward to seeing more of Tony's story unfolding in upcoming comic books. He also made mention of Riri and how the character could be more intellectually brilliant than Iron Man himself.
Bendis stated that Riri tends to look at things differently than Tony. He also hinted that the teen's version of the Iron Man suit may contain some unique features.
