For a while, the rumor mill has been running wild with the news that Apple will launch the Apple Watch 2 soon. What significant is that the upcoming version of the gadget will come packed with a GPS, waterproofing attributes, a barometer and more. The Cupertino firm also plans to release updated versions of the former models.
According to popular KGI analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the world's number one tech firm has plans to include moderate improvements in its new watches over its predecessor. One of the new units that are likely to be introduced next month, will boast an iterative upgrade over the original Apple Watch.
In addition, the device is expected to bear some intricate aesthetic details. As for the internals, there will be improved intervals, preferably a TSMC processor crafted on the 16nm process. Apple is rumored to upgrade its waterproofing traits.
Coming to the Apple Watch 2, another launch imminent in September, will boast geolocation capabilities. As for power, the watch will feature a higher capacity battery to boost the advanced components inside the gadget. However, this might pose a barrier to Apple's usually slim design layouts for its products.
Looking ahead, the iPhone maker is not likely to change the form factor of its wearable coming next year, but there is a strong possibility of bringing LTE support for data functionality and a detached cellphone.
More rumors have been flooding the media that Apple is likely to introduce radical changes to the wearable in 2018 in addition to potentially FDA approval and enhanced health applications. While the two devices are slated for a release soon, analyst Kuo has already predicted that this year's fiscal shipment will be between 10 million and 11 million units, much higher than last fiscal year's shipment that was between 7 million and 7.5 million, Apple Insider reported.
Another report claims that the addition of a barometer in the Apple Watch 2 is meant to detect elevation and atmospheric pressure just like its Huawei counterpart that launched its high-end smartwatch last year.
The other features expected on the upcoming smartwatch include a thinner watch face, wireless chip, augmented in-house storage option, video camera, fiber woven strap and much more. Apple could use any of these materials, such as platinum, liquidmetal and titanium for designing the watch, Daily Mail reported.
