LG V20 may be the best smartphone for audiophiles as the company announced that the Android device will carry a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad digital-to-analog-converter (DAC) claimed to be even better than the LG V10.
Most average users do not care about high quality sound on their smartphones as long as they can hear it loud and clear. Others are also satisfied as long as the bass has a strong kick to it.
Audiophiles want everything to be perfect and one step to high quality audio and music is using a DAC. There are standalone DACs but they can be bulky and expensive.
LG is now boasting that their V20 will carry a new ESS DAC that is even better than the one carried by last year's V10 Android smartphone, Android Police has learned. This means that users will have to use wired headphones to get the maximum sound quality possible with the LG V20's built-in DAC.
Bluetooth earphones and headphones can still work but they will not get the most out of their LG V20. DAC's provide superior sound quality as it converts the digital data to analog sound for the best possible sound output.
LG V20 owners who use wireless Bluetooth earphones will have to use their own DAC separate from what the smartphone already has, Engadget reported. The Korean tech company claims that the LG V20's DAC is better than others available in the market as it can reduce up to 50 percent of ambient noise levels.
There are no solid figures yet nor are there any benchmarks but LG's claim with the V20's DAC seems to be ambitious. Last year's V10 has already delivered spectacular performance not only with the sound but also with the overall aspect of the Android smartphone.
The LG V20 is also expected to be the first smartphone to run the Android 7.0 Nougat version out of the box. Google's Nexus 2016 smartphones will reportedly launch even later than the LG V20.
LG has not yet put out a release date or price tag for the V20. Users should expect it to be even more expensive than the V10 at around $1000 due to the new and improved Hi-Fi Quad DAC.
