"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will introduce some big changes in Caroline's (Candice Accola-King) life.
In the previous season, Caroline became Alaric's (Matt Davis) baby mama. The two characters got engaged before their twins were born, but their wedding didn't push through. Caroline later on got back together with Stefan (Paul Wesley) - a storyline that shocked fans especially since the latter hurt the former terribly.
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Julie Plec responded to the rumors suggesting that Caroline and Stefan will finally tie the knot in the final season of the hit The CW series.
"Caroline is trying, in her wonderfully Caroline way, to be all things to all people. She's trying to be the perfect mother, the perfect baby mama to her recently parted fiancé, she has a new job, she's back in Mystic Falls. She's working at the local news station in Mystic Falls as a behind the scenes journalist this time. She's also trying to juggle a very important relationship to Stefan against the crisis of the moment, which is that Stefan's brother is MIA. She's multi-tasking in her own fierce, fabulous way. Lots of big shifts and moves coming up for her this year," she said.
Based on Plec's answer, it seems that a Steroline wedding is quite farfetched in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8. This does not mean though that Caroline and Stefan will break up yet again. Previously, the exec said that Stefan will draw strength from Caroline especially when it comes to saving his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder).
In other news, The CW president Mark Pedowitz previously confirmed that Nina Dobrev is in talks to return to "The Vampire Diaries" season 8. "We collectively came to the same place. We backed Julie Plec in her decision... there are discussions going on with Nina, we'd love to have her back... These are discussions that go on, hopefully she'll be back, but should it not work out, Julie has planned out a great series finale for fans," he told E! News.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET.
