With the sudden take down of one of the pioneer torrent site KickAss Torrent (KAT), a lot of users seek refuge and opted to continue downloading things from the other big name in the torrent community, which is The Pirate Bay.
It is known that TPB was also faced with the exact situation years ago, the site got suspended last year and legal teams took over it, but just after a few days of being suspended TPB got back up and running again. People are expecting that the same thing would happen with KAT, but almost a week after the arrest of its founder, KAT is still managed by the authorities.
Since Peter Sunde is not new with this kind of situation, he revisited his memories when he was the one being arrested for his involvement in the piracy industry.
According to Ecumenical News, Sunde was arrested in Finland and tons of cases were brought up against him by different record labels, and since the TPB co-founder was not fully aware of what's enclosed in his law suit, he wasn't able to defend himself that much. Sunde stated "I've decided I'm going to sue them for damage against my good name and stealing a lot of time from me."
It is also reported that Sunde was asked to pay Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music, Warner Music, and EMI almost $400,000 for copyright infringement, and he is certain that he didn't deserve the things that happened to him.
Sunde is confident enough to file a case against all the people who sued him, wherein he said "They know I'm not involved in what they're suing me for. It's defamation." He also claims that he wasn't part of the TPB anymore by the time he got arrested.
In other news, a lot of Torrent users are still in shock with Torrentz decision to take down their site voluntarily.
The News Recorder reported that it is a lot safer for the Torrentz to continue with their site because they only serve as a search engine, and the site doesn't really provide its users with pirated downloads of movies, etc. Torrentz' founders haven't given any statements regarding the issue yet.
With KAT gone, TPB would now be on the rise, and with Torrentz sudden take down, Extra Torrentz would now serve as the go-to place for Torrent searches.
