Torrent 2016 news, update: BitTorrent named upcoming news channel; BitTorrent News’ live video service to run peer-to-peer system, to cater 13 other channels?

For many movie binge watchers and TV series fanatics, BitTorrent is a one-stop place for hunting the latest torrents and new copy of the in-demand video files. However, cyber perpetrators would likely increase their interest in BitTorrent, after it reported that they will release a news channel in time for the U.S. Election. Dubbed BitTorrent News, it will use the company's patented peer-to-peer live streaming system.

According to Variety, the file hosting services company is considering to launch a TV news network for its live streaming service, a current service that is not being catered by BitTorrent. This new innovation to the company is hinted by a job posting recently published, which is "currently looking to hire news director tasked with building out and running a team of journalists to launch 'BitTorrent News,'" the same publication has learned.

As reported by Inverse, the network will run across a P2P-powered live video service called BitTorrent Live, which was announced in May. The same report said that the service is still under the wire, but will reportedly cater at least 13 channels with both free and paid-for tiers. In fact, BitTorrent Live carries a number of niche channels, including Clubbing TV, FightBox, Newsmax TV, Heroes TV and TWiT (Variety)

Since the company is a popular file hosting service company running through the peer-to-peer system, BitTorrent News is engineered similar to how files are downloaded over BitTorrent, "where home computers pass on chunks of files to other computers, rather than every computer downloading from a single central server."

However, as some giants on daily news reporting like CNN and MSNBC still run the field of this game, BitTorrent has no intention to compete with their operations. "We're building a lean team to start, and early on we expect everyone will wear many hats," the job posting reads.

The network may also not broadcast 24/7, but instead, focus its coverage on breaking news events, including "political campaigns, sporting events, tech and cultural events." Until its official release is yet to be unveiled, people should take into consideration a dream of a spot on BitTorrent's newsroom.
