AMD has just teased the launch of their highly-anticipated Vega GPU which could power the Radeon RX 490 that was also leaked by the company's own website several weeks ago.
The AMD Polaris 10 and 11 GPUs are not as powerful as NVIDIA's new Pascal GPU. They are significantly cheaper but they still offer a significant upgrade over the previous generation with barely the same or even cheaper price tags.
Radeon RX 480, RX 470 and RX 460 cards have already been released but some people are still holding off to buy the AMD Vega video cards which could start with the Radeon RX 490 soon. NVIDIA's Titan X, GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 are considerably more powerful but they are also more expensive by several hundred dollars.
AMD's Radeon RX 490 card supposedly powered by the Vega 10 GPU will be released in early 2017 and an executive has already revealed the launch venue through a Facebook photo, Guru3D.com has learned. The company's Senior Director for Global Marketing and Public Relations, Chris Hook, uploaded the photo of the venue on the social network.
The photo shows what seems to be an abandoned factory. Mr. Hook did not give out the details of the location and the AMD Vega Radeon RX 490 release date but it is clear that the company still has more work to do with the venue and probably with the GPU as well.
With the new launch venue photo, people are now speculating that the AMD Vega release date could be nearer than everyone thought it would be. AMD could release the Radeon RX 490 or whatever Vega 10 video card the company will roll out before the end of 2016, Legit Reviews reported.
People are excited about the AMD Vega GPUs because they are expected to take on the upcoming GTX 1080 Ti which could bridge the gap between the GTX 1080 and the needlessly expensive Titan X. AMD could unveil the new Vega 10 GPU powering the Radeon RX 490 card as early as holiday 2016 before it finally rolls out in early 2017.
