Titanfall 2 is now open for a "Multiplayer Tech Test" session or beta for short over the weekend across users on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Unfortunately, the Titanfall 2 beta session is not open for PC users. Console players can just sign up for the beta on their website for free without any pre-order or purchase necessary to avail of the free session.

To clarify the free test session, Titanfall 2 lead engineer Jon Shiring said that the test version is actually a pre-alpha build that still has bugs. Players should expect that there will be glitch moments while trying to fly around and shooting enemies on the ground.

Titanfall 2 beta or pre-alpha test players will be able to try the five new competition styles, Engadget has learned. The developers are hoping to test their new server setup for the game and to see whether it will hold up once the game is released on October 28 across all of its supported platforms.

The five competition styles included in the free test session include 8v8, Pilots vs. Pilots, 5v5 and Bounty hunt. Ion and Scorch will be the two first mechs that players can try out in Titanfall 2's free test session.

Developer Respawn Entertainment is not yet releasing a beta for the PC platform because they are avoiding any data miners that could unveil secrets of the game even before Titanfall 2 is released, Inquisitr reported. Titanfall 2 Open Multiplayer Tech Test will only be available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players and will run from August 19 to August 21.

Fortunately, there will also be another run next weekend. Titanfall 2 beta can still be played by the console gamers starting on August 26 up to August 28.

The bad news is that the whole beta installation file of Titanfall 2 is around 12GB. Players who have slow connections may not even finish the download over the weekend but they could still reach the second test session.

Titanfall 2 is set to release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 28. There is no news yet whether PC users will also get a separate beta test session before the rollout of the game.
