Parrot has recently unveiled their new fixed wing Disco drone which could be one of the fastest drones ever built with a maximum speed of 85 kilometers per hour.
The black and white drone looks like a mini jet plane as it soars through the air. Parrot's Disco drone can also last up to 45 minutes up in the air on a single charge which is useful for those who are using drones to take aerial view shots for their film.
Parrot initially debuted the prototype of the Disco drone at CES and now the final version is finally being released with a pretty hefty $1300 price tag for interested customers, TechCrunch has learned. At first glance, the drone looks hard but it is actually built with flexible rugged foam that make it light enough to fly and maneuver through the air.
The Disco has a weight of about 1.6 pounds and is powered by just one propeller on its rear. It also includes an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a magnetometer, a barometer and GPS/GLONASS.
For those who want to take advantage of the drone's video capture capabilities, it has a 14MP camera with wide angle lens and can take videos up to 1080p full HD. Pilots can also stream the video feed through a VR headset that is included in the package, PC Magazine reported.
First time pilots will be guided by the Parrot Disco drone's Control Hub & Universal Computer Kit (C.H.U.C.K.) which will automatically fly the drone in the air until the pilot is ready to take over. C.H.U.C.K. still assists the pilot even if they are already on the helm flying the drone to prevent crashes or any other problems.
To control the Parrot Disco drone, the users will use the Parrot Skycontroller 2. It has dual joysticks and more customizable buttons to suit the user's needs.
Parrot will be launching the Disco Drone for $1300 in September and the price tag seems to be worth it. The package will include the Cockpitglasses VR Google Cardboard headset and the Parrot Skycontroller 2 to take over the drone while flying.
