Sting announced his retirement from wrestling during his WWE Hall of Fame induction speech on April 2. However, the latest rumors imply that Sting is interested in wrestling one more match and he wants to face The Undertaker.
The 57-year-old last wrestled against Seth Rollins in 2015 at Night of Champion wherein he suffered a cervical spinal stenosis. It happened after Rollins hit a turnbuckle bomb and Sting failed to take it properly.
Sting officially retired at the 2016 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in Dallas, ending all the speculations about his future. However, he recently revealed in his appearance on "Legends with JBL" only on the WWE Network (subscription required) that he feels he has some unfinished business in the WWE.
"That's the unfinished business. I've always wanted to have that match with The Undertaker, and I know that wrestling fans have always wanted to see it too," Sting said.
Ever since The Icon made his WWE debut, many fans are clamoring for him to have a dream match against The Undertaker. The two legends are the top stars of their respective companies during the Monday Night Wars.
There were several rumors last year that the WWE has opposed to a Sting vs. The Undertaker match at WrestleMania. Vince McMahon reportedly did not want two 50-year-old stars wrestling each other in a very big stage.
During the interview with JBL, Sting also revealed that there were plans for him to wrestle Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 18 in Toronto, Canada. However, his negotiations with the WWE fell through and his debut for the company got delayed for 12 years.
The Vigilante also said that he has not undergone surgery to repair his cervical spinal stenosis because it will end his career. It is the same injury and surgery that put Edge on the shelf for good but Sting feels he has one more match left in him
According to The Inquisitr, the best scenario for Sting and the WWE fans is a match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33. It is the best time to do it since Sting is already 57 years old while The Deadman is 51 years old.
It should be noted that Sting is still officially retired but he could always wrestle one more match if the WWE doctors clear him. Nevertheless, he had one of the greatest careers in wrestling history and it is better for him to stay retired rather than risk being in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
