After several rumors about "Orange Is The New Black" cancellation, showrunner Jenji Kohan confirmed the show will still be airing for three more years. This was after Netflix renewed the TV series for seasons 5 to 7. In the upcoming season, one major character is expected to die next after Poussey died last season.
According to Kohan, the next season is already in production. The showrunner said that with a three-season renewal, more interesting things can still be done to the show. In his interview with Variety, Kohan thanked Netflix and the cast and crew of the said TV series, describing them as stellar and saying he shares the pride and honor of the show with them.
According to the same report, Netflix is "tight-fisted" to share viewership data. But the executives at the network have repeatedly confirmed OITNB's renewal. Netflix's VP of original content Cindy Holland said the show was able to produce a "phenomenal" and "impactful" series which touched the heart of its viewers.
Meanwhile, for some rumors surrounding season 5, one major character is expected to die next to Poussey. In support of the "Black Lives Matter" movement, more deaths in the show is expected to happen, Chatt Sports Net reported.
The report is speculating Piper will die next as she had been the subject of an unfortunate event that is expected to be featured in the upcoming season. On the other hand, many believe that death of characters inside the penitentiary excuses no one.
