As previously confirmed, "The Flash" Season 3 is going to adapt the "Flashpoint" arc from the comicbook series. The effect of Barry Allen's decision to speed back in time and save his mother will have major repercussions in the third season, as well as the other DC Comics shows on The CW; however, to what extent will "The Flash" Season 3 remain faithful to the original "Flashpoint" narrative.
Shows focuses on "Flashpoint's" effect on Barry's personal life
The effect of "Flashpoint" in the comics is at a universal scale. Everyone, from Captain Cold to Superman, is affected, and even Batman is not Bruce Wayne, but his dad Thomas. "The Flash" Season 3, however, is not going to touch on that massive plot. Instead, they're going for a more personal approach for the show.
"The stakes in the comic book in Flashpoint were global and the stakes in this episode are very much just about Barry, his existence, and the people that he loves," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told EW.
Henry and Nora Allen are both alive
In the original "Flashpoint" arc, Henry Allen is dead. He died a few years prior due to heart attack. In the show, however, both of Barry's parents are alive. Kreisberg described Barry as being in a "happy place" where he's living with both his parents.
Barry still has his powers
According to Screen Rant, Barry wakes up without powers in "Flashpoint" but later regains his powers with the help of Batman, who finds a way to restore Barry's Speed Force. In "The Flash" Season 3, Barry may still have his powers, but he's no longer The Flash. The speedster in action is Kid Flash a.k.a Wally West, Joe's son. Moreover, there probably won't be any interaction between Batman and Barry in "The Flash."
Joe and Barry's relationship
Throughout "The Flash," Joe and Barry maintained a father and son-like relationship. Unfortunately in "Flashpoint," the two are barely acquaintances, and Barry is also not close with Iris, although they did go to school together when they were younger.
Although, in season 3, Barry is still works at CSI but he is not Joe's go-to guy. There are speculations that Julian Dorn, a new character to be played by Tom Felton, is the one who's close with Joe.
"The Flash" Season 3 premieres on Oct. 4 on The CW.
