The WWE is slowly following up the feud between Daniel Bryan and The Miz this week on SmackDown Live. The latest rumors have revealed the update on the plans for both superstars moving forward. Will it lead to a Bryan comeback and a match against The Miz?
The feud between the former rivals started in an episode of Talking Smack three weeks ago. Bryan called out The Miz for being a coward in the ring and not taking any risks. The Intercontinental champion responded with the best promo of his career.
The Miz blasted Bryan for failing to fulfill his promise to his fans by returning to wrestling. He also bragged that he is the one wrestling right now, for the fans, and not Bryan, who retired earlier this year due to a head injury.
It should be noted that the former WWE World Heavyweight champion retired from wrestling in February after doctors found a lesion in his brain. The lesion causes seizures and if he continued wrestling, it could get bigger and affect his life.
Several months after retiring, Bryan returned to television as SmackDown's general manager. But for those hoping for a possible Bryan comeback, do not count on it. According to Cageside Seats, the Daniel Bryan-The Miz feud will not have any physical contact and it is just to elevate the IC champion.
After an underwhelming follow-up in the last two weeks, the WWE amped it up in this week's episode of SmackDown. As recapped by WWE.com, The Miz demanded a new contract from Bryan and he warned the GM that he will not be defending his Intercontinental title until he gets what he wants.
The storyline will likely lead to a rematch between The Miz and Dolph Ziggler at WWE No Mercy on October 9. Bryan would also probably ban Maryse, who helped his husband retain the title at Backlash, in ringside.
However, it should be noted that these are just purely speculative at the moment. There were several reports about three weeks ago implying that the WWE is not closing the door in a possible Bryan comeback.
Even though many fans would love to see Bryan wrestle again, it is best for him to stay retire since he has already accomplished everything he needs to do. He is a future Hall of Famer and he also has plans to start a family with his wife, Brie Bella.
If fans want to see more of Bryan, they just have to watch SmackDown every week, as well as the new reality television Total Bellas. Check out the video below for the worked shoot promo that started the feud.
