Bill Goldberg has been rumored to be making his return to the WWE after being confirmed as a playable character for the WWE 2K17 video game. According to the latest rumors, Goldberg is close to signing a contract with the WWE to wrestle again and he could make an appearance at Clash of Champions.
Many fans were surprised when it was revealed several months ago that Goldberg is the first superstar confirmed for WWE 2K17. Rumors started to swirl that he will also return as a part-time wrestler and possibly have a rematch against Brock Lesnar, who is the cover of the video game.
The 49-year-old was rumored to be appearing at SummerSlam but he eventually did not show up since he has not agreed to a deal with the WWE. Nonetheless, the negotiations between Goldberg and WWE continue with the contract letting the former wrestle once again, per Cageside Seats.
It should be noted that Goldberg only signed a deal with the WWE to appear in the video game and not as a wrestler. However, it is a great sign that the two sides are ready to bury the hatchet after years of taking shots at each other.
According to 411 Mania, Goldberg is set to appear at an event in Indianapolis, Indiana the same day as Clash of Champions. He promoted his appearance via Facebook and he revealed that he will be talking about WWE 2K17, Lesnar, and Clash of Champions.
WWE Clash of Champions is also a day after Randy Orton's rematch against The Beast at a live event in Chicago, Illinois. Lesnar is not advertised for the pay-per-view but he can certainly make the trip and appear in a segment.
Nevertheless, these are just purely speculative at this point since Goldberg has not signed a deal with the WWE. The former WCW and WWE World champion is still in top shape despite his age and he has been teasing a match against Lesnar for months now.
It is widely speculated that Goldberg vs. Lesnar II is going to happen at WrestleMania 33 next year in Orlando. Both superstars are big names that can attract casual fans and they will have the opportunity to redeem themselves from their heavily-panned first match at WrestleMania 20.
