"Quantico" Season 2 is back with Kudove, a CIA cryptogram that means Deputy Director. The new season of the ABC drama thriller series has a lot of changes as the showrunner promised a darker and a more powerful installment than the initial season.

The premiere episode opened with a new setting from the FBI's training facility to the CIA's The Farm. It is not the only change that is happening in "Quantico" Season 2 as the showrunner Josh Safran pushed the reset button to offer a more mature approach in the ABC drama.

"We hit reset," Safran told The Hollywood Reporter. "I was very interested in looking at this show as different books in a series, which is different than a sequel."

"Quantico" Season 2 kicked off with two timelines, one in the present with Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra) at The Farm and one in the future with another terrorist attack bound to happen. This season, according to Safra, viewers do not have to wait until the end to seek the answers as they will be able to pick up the answer at the turn of each event.

"Quantico" premiered with new recruits at The Farm. The new faces include global characters since CIA runs globally, Entertainment Weekly quoted Safran as saying.

This is the reason why the new season introduced a set of actors coming from different nationalities. African actress Pearl Thusi, cast as Dayana; Mexican actor Aarón Díaz, stars as Leon Velez; and American Asian actor David Lim, cast as Sebastian Chen.

Safran teased that "Quantico" Season 2 will see more mysteries and puzzles to be solved. With Alex and Ryan Booth (Jake LcLaughlin) working undercover at the CIA for FBI, there are a lot of tangles that are needed to be untied. Alex is going to face a larger battle this time as the threat goes global.

One big question that is waiting to be answered is whether or not an engagement could be happening this season. Alex and Ryan are now back to work together at the CIA. Their collaboration is a good hint that viewers can expect a chance between the two agents, who were once separated.

"Quantico" Season 2 airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.Check out the promo of the new season:
