"Quantico" Season 2 cast and crew are back to work on July 11. After finishing the first season, fans of the ABC thriller series could expect more actions and excitement as the entire cast, including its lead star Priyanka Chopra prepares for their return.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer and showrunner Josh Safran revealed that "Quantico" Season 2 is packed with more explosions and actions as compared to the previous season. He revealed the opening will see the Grand Central Station bombing, and teased that the upcoming season has a lot of big events to watch out for.
"But while it is bigger, it's also more contained," Safran told the publication. "It allows us to feel more rooted every time we travel from one timeline to another. Again, if Season 1 was sort of 'The Fugitive,' Season 2 has another blockbuster in mind."
The initial season of "Quantico" was inspired by the movie "The Fugitive" and it looks like "Quantico" Season 2 will be helmed with another blockbuster film in mind. Safran, however, refrained to tell what movie will influence the next season.
As for the cast, Season 2 will welcome new faces in the upcoming episodes. One thing that is certain is the role of the "Being Human" star Russell Tovey as Harry Doyle. Tovey will be joining the cast as a mainstay beginning next season.
"Revenge" actor Henry Czerny will be playing a mystery role while a polyglot named Lydia will also be seen in "Quantico" Season 2. Some of the cast may not return for the next season, but those who are close to Alex Parrish (Chopra) will definitely remain, including Ryan (Jake McLaughlin) and Shelby (Johanna Braddy).
In terms of the storyline, the next season will focus on Alex's decision and how it influences her relationships. In an exclusive interview with TV Line, Safran said that there will be a slower relationship drama between Alex and Ryan Booth (Jake McLaughlin).
For fans hoping to see more of Alex and Ryan together, this would seem impossible after the showrunner's revelation. Season 1 is more of a college-like atmosphere while the next season will see the characters turning into mature roles.
"Quantico" Season 2 is slated to be seen at 10 p.m. ET time on Sept. 25 on ABC. Check out the trailer here:
