Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson recently unveiled the first look of the much-talked about upcoming movie, "Baywatch." The actor took to Instagram to give the fans the first sneak peek inside the movie.
Clad in a red-and-blue swimwear, Johnson is seen along with fellow lifeguards Jon Bass, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera, and Zac Efron in the recently unveiled pic.
"Are we bad ass? Yes. Do we save lives? All day," wrote the actor in the caption. "We work hard, we play hard."
The movie is the big-screen action-comedy adaptation based on the guilty-pleasure hit 1990s TV show of the same name. It is being directed by Seth Gordon of "Horrible Bosses" and "Identity Theft" fame.
"Baywatch" centers on the by-the-book leader of an elite team of lifeguards, who is forced to team with a rule-breaking hotshot to save the bay from an oil tycoon, played by Indian star Priyanka Chopra. However, Chopra is questioningly absent from the movie's first look.
A string of writers have been hired for the long-awaited movie, including pair of Damian Shannon and Mark Swift of "Friday the 13th" fame. Hannibal Buress will also be seen alongside the original "Baywatch" star David Hasselholf,who will also make an appearance in the movies.
"Baywatch," the TV series, originally premiered on NBC in 1989. The original cast included Hasselhoff, Parker Stevenson, Shawn Weatherly, Billy Warlock, Erika Eleniak, Peter Phelps, Brandon Call and Holly Gagnier. After the initial setback, the show was cancelled after first season. However, it returned to TV in 1991 and ran successfully for a decade.
"Baywatch" is scheduled to hit theatres on May 19, 2017. The movie is being produced by Johnson along with Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Beau Flynn, Dany Garcia, Ivan Reitman and Douglas Schwartz. Filming for the movie is currently underway in Boca Raton, Florida, E! News reported.
Meanwhile, the "Quantico" star, who will be seen in an action-packed avatar in her debut Hollywood film, will be receiving training in a martial art form called Kajukenbo to gear up for he role in the movie, Hindustan Times reported.
