"Hunter X Hunter" Season 3 may be aired in 2018 due to popular demand. The readers of the manga series ''Hunter X Hunter'' have been quite loyal to Weekly Shonen Jump magazine although creator and illustrator Yoshihiro Togashi has gone on long hiatus several times.
According to Crunchy Roll, Studio Pierrot is thinking of renewing the contract for "Hunter X Hunter" Season 3 since the viewership of Season 1 and 2 was very high and the fans have been demanding for "Hunter X Hunter" Season 3 to be aired soon. There is still no confirmation if the third season has 26 episodes.
The second season was the re-creation of the Season 1, which narrated the story of Gon Freecss, the protagonist of the tale. Season 1 had 62 episodes and they covered the ''Hunter Exam," ''Zoldyck Family," ''Heavens Arena" and ''Yorknew City" arcs from the manga series.
It is expected that "Hunter X Hunter" Season 3 will revolve around the storyline of the manga series ''Dark Continent" arc. This is the eighth story arc and starts from Chapter 340 of the manga.
In this arc, Isacc Netero's son, Beyond Netero, wants to start his expedition to an unknown world known as the ''Dark Continent.'' The Zodiacs fear that this expedition might bring some bad omen to the world and decide to watch over him. They invite Kurapika and Leorio to join them.
Due to old age, Togashi has been suffering from back problems for the last few years and writing for a weekly magazine is proving detrimental to his health, according to Rocket News 24. Since March 3, 1998, he has written 360 chapters of this manga.
The publishers of the manga series thought about replacing Togashi but the readers have remained loyal to him. The chances that "Hunter X Hunter" Season 3 will be aired in 2018 are slim but the readers apparently do not want other writers to continue with the manga series and coming up with a new storyline.
