The latest GoT rumors suggest that in time for "Game of Thrones" Season 7 the scattered House Stark will gather together, which begs the question: Will the deceased Starks take part in the rumored family reunion?
One of the long-standing fan theories that have been circulating point to the possibility of the murdered Catelyn Stark returning to the show, which makes sense as the book version by George R.R. Martin has the Eddard Stark's wife exacting revenge on those who wronged the Winterfell ruling clan. But as Lady Stoneheart, Martin created in Catelyn a zombie.
She would have been an interesting addition to the HBO fantasy series and rumors event went wild that showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will debut Lady Stoneheart last season but no such appearance did happen. And it could be, if the latest speculations are to be believed that Benioff and Weiss opted instead for a different Stark to get zombified in the TV version of GRRM's "A Song of Ice and Fire".
No, it's not Ned Eddard, who King Joffrey had beheaded, but another Stark that lost his head - Robb. Last seen, Robb was being paraded by his assassins with the head of his direwolf. Is there a chance he will return to Game of Thrones and make life hell for the Stark enemies?
As far as Richard Madden, who played the ill-fated King in the North, such as a plan by Benioff and Weiss does not exist. While a zombified Robb Stark is not in Martin's ASOIAF book series, the possibility of the undead Robb returning is not exactly unthinkable. The GoT showrunners after all are known to deviate from the book so a headless Robb collecting paybacks is not entirely impossible.
But Madden told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview that so far no advisory of a Robb Stark return was sent to him. "I've not heard anything, of course. I suppose I wouldn't have the phone call, because they're very secretive about everything," Madden said.
In GoT Season 6, returning or resurrected characters was nothing new. Jon Snow came back from the dead, Benjen Stark reappeared after skipping four seasons and Ned was seen again but in a younger version. So Robb Stark making his way back to Game of Thrones should be welcome prospect.
Now the question is: Is Madden up to it? According to THR, the actor was at best unsure. "I don't know, I'd have to read... I stopped reading the books a couple years ago because the show kept changing and I'd much rather just watch it and see what came next," Madden said.
And he added, "I haven't gotten a call," somehow further dispelling the rumors that Robb Stark turned to a zombie and will sow terror in Westeros soon.
