"Star Wars: Episode 8" film will show who Rey's parents are, as confirmed by Daisy Ridley in an interview with Vulture. Ridley revealed that "Star Wars" fans will also get to know about the latest heroine in the upcoming film.
So far, the "Star Wars" franchise has released seven films under its belt and the American epic space opera franchise has managed to give some pretty exciting adventures through the years. With the new revelations from Ridley, the questions that fans have about the film will be answered, and one of them has something to do with Rey's parentage.
However, when Vulture asked Ridley if Jyn from the upcoming spin-off "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is Rey's mother, Ridley seemed to doubt such a possibility. The actress pondered on the "Star Wars" timeline before giving her answer, and said she thinks it would not work because Darth Vader is there. She added that Vader would ultimately be her grandma.
Ridley just finished filming on "Star Wars VIII" and now she is looking forward to "Rogue One," which features Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso. The former revealed her feelings, saying "I am very excited to see how it is, because I have heard it is different." She added, "I have no idea what happens, I know the ending, but I have no idea really what happens in it."
Disney also will be releasing a number of spin-off films, including a Han Solo one, to answer the rest of the questions yet to be answered. "Rogue One" is rumored to be the first spin-off film to launch.
Ridley's own character's place in the "Star Wars" expanded universe is still under wraps as the actress has not been following the fan theories closely. She, however, admit that her fans are speculating about her character Rey's lineage.
In addition, there is a possibility that Rey is related to Obi-Wan Kenobi and this theory is supported by her Kenobi-like costume and love of solitude. Ridley noted that what Rey think about will be revealed soon. "We will see in a year," she said.
"Star Wars: Episode 8" is expected to have a rather different tone compared to "The Force Awakens." Adam Driver, who portrays "Star Wars" villain Kylo Ren, teased the details and said that the upcoming film in the main series will be more similar to "The Empire Strikes Back."
"Rogue One" will be hitting the big screen this Dec. 16 and "Star Wars: Episode 8" is expected to air on Dec. 15, 2017.
