Bayer Leverkusen snapped a two-game losing skid after defeating reeling squad Wolfsburg, 2-1, on the road at the Volkswagen Arena last Saturday, as per ESPN.
The hosts opened the scoring with a right-footed shot from German midfielder Maximilian Arnold in the 37th minute from a cross by teammate Daniel Caligiuri to the center of the box.
Die Wölfe kept the lead until late in the match which gave the team hope to finally earn a win. However, head coach Roger Schmidt's squad hit two goals, in the 79th and 83rd minutes courtesy of Swiss winger Admir Mehmedi and Croatian defender Tin Jedvaj, to overtake the Wolves and snatch away the three points in the standings.
The win kept Bayer in the 10th spot of the current league table as they pulled off a fourth unbeaten performance in their last six outings.
Meanwhile, Darmstadt succumbed to their sixth winless performance in their last seven games as they were blanked by surprise team RB Leipzig, 0-2, at their home ground of Jonathan-Heimes-Stadion am Böllenfalltor also last Saturday, via Soccerway.
Austrian forward Marcel Sabitzer scored a brace for Leipzig, who are last season's runner-up team in 2. Bundesliga. After a goalless first half, Sabitzer opened the scoring in the 57th before doubling the lead in the 82nd. The assists came from Timo Werner and Oliver Burke respectively.
Head coach Norbert Meier's side has been struggling at the moment as the team only has one win in their last seven matches. The teams lost four and drawn six to drop to the 14th spot of the 20-team league table.
