The Geneva Motor Show 2015 is an annual auto show that showcases a wide array of automobiles ranging from luxury sports cars to small SUV's. This show serves as an outlet for car manufactures to showcase their newest car models to the European consumers.
Unlike other motor shows, Geneva Motor Show 2015 will highlight the increasing popularity of United States-style of SUV's. IHS Automotive principal analyst Tim Urquhart said, "Models in Geneva are further evidence of the shift in European consumers tastes away from the conventional hatchback and sedan body styles to company crossover and SUV body style."
However, some of the models presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2015 still retain that casual European style of small but high mileage cars. The trend for cars with higher MPG was caused by the unprecedented hike in gasoline prices.
Headlining the show is the 2015 Opel Karl, a hatchback urban minicar that resembles the Chevrolet Spark in terms of design and power output. The Opel Karl has a three-cylinder, 1.0-liter engine.
Another interesting car to be presented in the Geneva Motor show 2015 is the redesigned Hyundai Tucson. The Tucson is set to compete with other compact SUV like the Toyota RAV 4 and Honda CRV. On the SUV market, Nissan will be unveiling its Kadjar compact SUV.
Despite its debut in the Detroit auto show, Honda will still be presenting its HR-V which eyes to compete with the likes of Chevrolet Trax and Jeep Renegade.
On the luxury sports car market, Audi will be unveiling is redesigned R8 sports car which is now powered by a V-10 610-horsepower engine, according to BBC.
For the ultra-luxury car segment, Mercedes Benz is set to unveil its Maybach Pullman model which is a stretched version of its Mercedes S-Class. Several reports say that the Pullman has a price tag close to $500,000. Bentley on the other hand will introduce its new concept car on which the company's future coupe models will be based on, according to CBS News.
The Geneva Motor Show 2015 will run from Mar. 3-15, 2015.
