Fans of “Descendants of the Sun” actress Song Hye Kyo were both happy and sad at the fan meet she held on Sunday, Nov. 13, to mark her 20 years as an actress and her 35th birthday on Nov. 22.
There were happy because even if there was no confirmation from Blossom Entertainment, Song Hye Kyo’s screen partner in “Descendants of the Sun,” Song Joong-ki, showed up at the fan meet. Other stars such as Yoo Ah In also showed up. After their turns, Song Hye Kyo read a letter to her fans.
Because the letter was so emotional, she started to cry. This made Song Joong-ki ran back to the stage with a tissue and bowed his head at the fans and disappeared again. However, the fans were so touched by his gesture because he remained at the event despite his turn at the stage having been over, AllKpop reported.
The event, held at the Auditorium Coex in Seoul which seats 1,000 fans, however, also disappointed some fans because of previous media speculations that Song Joong-ki might propose to her at the fan meet. Like his birthday when some media and fans had expectations of a marriage proposal, the fan meet yielded the same result as the turn of events revealed it was just a rumor or a fan wish.
Inquisitr reported that fans cannot wait to see Song Hye Kyo again since “Descendants of the Sun” ended in mid-April. There is no clear word what her next project would be amid speculations she might be in a Hollywood movie, but the actress said she wants her next role to be more meaningful.
Song Joong-ki, meanwhile, would be seen next on “Battleship Island” and likely on “Train to Busan 2.” It is his involvement in these two projects which is being cited by The Bitbag as the reason behind the alleged cancellation of “Descendants of the Sun 2.” While there were rumors that because of the busy schedules of Song Joong-ki and Song Hye Kyo, the second season would have Jin Goo and Kim Ji Won as lead stars, the showrunners were wary it would be too risk to have a sequel without the SongSong couple.
